Air Fryer Reviews by The Air Fry Guy
You’ve probably seen Air Fryers or Oil-Less Fryers on TV or have read about them on the internet. What’s the big deal about Air Frying? Why are there so many Facebook posts about air fryers, and so many recipes popping up all over the place that require an air fryer?
Well the truth is that Air Fryers are here to stay. While they may be a brand new technology that will get better and better with time, they’ll only grow in popularity because they make food that tastes great with a LOT less oil. That means that you get a tasty meal that’s quite a bit healthier than frying something in a conventional deep fryer.
I made this page so that you can reap the same benefits that hundreds of thousands of happy air fryer owners are already enjoying.
Let’s take the confusion out of choosing an air fryer. Let me be your guide and you can choose the air fryer that best serves your needs.
Air Fryer Reviews – My Top Picks
I’ve done a lot of testing and research over a wide range of Air Fryers – More than I would like to admit, and even though the work can be tiresome and exhausting for me, you’re going to benefit from all of my research and testing!
I’ve reviewed a ton of Air Fryers and here are my top 3 picks. If you want to buy the best Air fryer, choose one of these 3.
I’m going to list each one, and write a little about why I think it’s a great choice.
My first top pick is the Philips HD9220/26. This is, in my opinion the best entry level Air Fryer that you can buy. It’s not dirt cheap, but it’s also not as much as some of the more expensive options.
Built well and very easy to clean up.
Lots of Add-Ons that you can buy. The fryer will never be obsolete
Philips is a great company for consumer electronics. They make great products and have good tech support.
Analog controls. Although some people prefer analog controls, I prefer digital. The HD9220/26’s big brother, the HD9230/26 has a digital cooking system, and it would have been my top pick if it were not for the high price.
Speaking of price, click the buttons below and I’ll direct you to Amazon, where you’ll get the best discount on this Air Fryer
My second top pick is the Black+Decker HF110SBD. It’s a great Air fryer for the price! It’s not as good as the Philips, but it’s less expensive and it’s a great product, which is what most consumers on a tighter budget are exactly looking for.
It’s a solid product. Black and Decker make great products
It’s a cheap air fryer! Cheap in price, not build quality.
It’s really great looking for the price.
Works well. Can fry, roast, bake, etc with the best of them.
The analog controls can be finicky and the numbers on the dials are kind of small.
A little bulkier than some other air fryers.
Heavy. It weighs in at 12 pounds and feels more like an oven than an air fryer.
Over all, the Black+Decker HF110SBD is a very nice choice for those who want a no-frills air fryer that’s cheap and will last them a long time.
Philips HD9230/26 Digital AirFryer
My third and final top pick for best air fryer is the Philips HD9230/26 Digital AirFryer. Yes, I know… Another Philips. It may seem as if I’m a bit of a Philips fanboy when it comes to Air Fryers but that’s not so. Philips makes a very good consumer air fryer, has a lot of options for extras and is built very well. This model different from my top pick in that it has digital controls, which is great to have. The only reason this Air Fryer is #3 is due to the price. At nearly $300 it’s out of the range of most consumers but is a great option for those who are serious about their kitchen and want the best for it.
LCD touchscreen. This is way better than analog controls.
Easy clean up
Double layer rack maximizes the cooking surface for more efficiency
Cookbook included. Never run out of ideas for air fried food.
Philips AirFryer app
The only bad thing about this air fryer is the price. The price is high enough to scare away casual buyers and is aimed at people who are serious about their kitchens and don’t mind dropping a couple hundred dollars on an appliance.
Use my button below to get the best price and an awesome discount on the Philips HD9230/26.
Air Fryer Reviews – Under $200
Air fryers can be a bit expensive, so I’m also going to break them up by price. Usually the better, longer lasting Air fryers are between $100-$200. Most of these name brands are well known and the customer support is great with these. Also, many customers are very happy with these higher-end Air Fryers so if your budget allows you to purchase an air fryer in this range, I would suggest it because you’re going to get the best, longest-lasting air fryer this way.
Avalon Bay AB-Airfryer100B
For the low price, this one’s a great Air fryer. My favorite thing about this one is that it comes with a couple of extras – A baking dish and a rack. Also this Air fryer seems to have better durability than some of the other air fryers for less that $200.
Accessories included. A very nice value!
detachable mesh metal basket for easy food transfer from fryer to dish
Fry, Bake, Grill and roast
Durable and cheap
A small minority buyers report that the handle is a little weak
Over all this is a nice air fryer, even if it lacks digital controls. Some buyers report that the handle can’t take much abuse so if you decide to buy this one, my best tip is to be gentle with the handle.
Ivation Air Fryer
The Ivation air fryer is a lesser known brand but don’t let that put you off… This is a nice air fryer! For a lot less than the Philips, you get a decent air fryer that has digital controls with presets for commonly cooked foods. That’s a feauture that’s rarely seen on Air fryers at this price level.
Presets for common food
Low price for the amount of features
When cooking tends to give off an “electrical” smell. Does not affect the food taste, but it’s noticeable.
No accessories or aftermarket accessories like there are with the Philips.
If you’re looking for an occasional-use air fryer, this one could be the one. It’s got a few nice features that more expensive fryers have. My only gripe is with the lack of accessories
GoWISE USA GW2262
Last but not least in recommended list of air fryers for under $200 is the GoWISE USA GW2262. It boasts an LCD digital display, which in my opinion is one of the nicer looking air fryer displays I’ve seen. It’s programmable, which at this price point is a very nice feature to have. It also comes in 2 sizes, 3qt and 5qt capacity. If you’re cooking for a family you’re going to want the larger capacity. If you’re making food for yourself on the go, choose the 3qt. You’ll appreciate the extra counter space.
LCD Digital interface
2 different capacities for different lifestyles
Good features for the price
A minority of people have had problems with the handle of the basket not locking into place properly.
Not many accessory options.
Over all this fryer is an awesome value and cooks evenly and great. It would be my top pick in the sub-$200 range if it were not for the handle/locking mechanism issue. This only happens to a very small minority of buyers and Amazon’s return policy is great, but it’s still an issue that may happen.
Reviews of Air Fryers – Under $100
Sometimes kitchen appliances are not our first choice when budgeting expenses. I can understand that! We’ve all been at that point when we have to compromise on the best in order to get a great low price option that will last long and serve us well.
Here I review some Air fryers for under $100. I’ve done the research on all of these and I’m going to list the Air Fryers that I think will be good buys on a budget. I’ll comment a little bit about why they’re a good value, and the pros and cons of each.
If you want the very best Air fryer for under $100, I suggest the Black and Decker Model from the “Top Picks” category on this page. I’m not listing it here since it’s already been reviewed earlier but in my honest opinion that’s your best option.
Le Coucou Airfryer
This is a different looking air fryer. Since so many of these seem to be variations of the same model, I’m going to try to help you out here and find some that are a little different. The Le Coucou air fryer looks pretty nice. It’s white in a fashionable iTech sort of way and has analog controls like most of the other sub-$100 air fryers do.
One year warranty
Good entry level fryer for those wanting to try air frying.
Small capacity (only 2.11 qt)
Some users report a slight “plastic flavor” after cooking certain foods. The taste goes away after using the air fryer a few times.
VonShef Air Fryer
Another air fryer that breaks the mold of the majority of these low end “China clone” models of air fryers is the VonShef. It’s got a unique look (it looks kind of similar to the Le Coucou model with different controls) which is what prompted me to take a look at it and I’m glad I did. For a cheap air fryer, this one is pretty decent.
People seem to love the way that the food turns out in this air fryer
Some people report that the printing on the controls rubs off easily
Not as durable as some of the higher priced fryers.
Not as high capacity as some of the other models
DELLA Air Fryer
Another cheap Air Fryer is the Della 1500W air fryer. This one stands out from the other budget choices in that it has a LCD display with a lot of commonly cooks foods as pre-sets. That’s something you usually don’t find in air fryers at this price point.
Presets for common foods
Other than the normal complaints about iffy construction that’s normal in sub-$100 air fryers, some people have reported that the cooking times are a little off and you may have to cook a little bit longer than what the presets are set for.
Over all this one is a pretty good choice, even if I would recommend the black+decker over this one. If you have a low budget and really need the lcd interface and presets, this is the air fryer to buy.
Reviews of Air Fryer Models that Have Accessories
Some air fryers come with accessories and extras, and the ability to add on accessories and extras. If that’s important to you, you’ve come to the right place. I’m going to review the air fryers that I think come with the best accessory/extras bundles here. Some come with recipe books, apps, nice features, some extra pans and baskets, etc.
De’Longhi FH1163 MultiFry
Although it’s more than just an Air Fryer, the De’Longhi FH1163 MultiFry is a great value because it can cook so much more than your average air fryer-only appliance. The multifry is great at cooking steak, salmon, pizza, cakes, bakes pies, and yeah, it’ll even cook your french fries like the other air fryers will. A couple of nice extras that this air fryer comes with are a mixing paddle and a removable bowl.
VERY versatile. Much more so than any of the other air fryers I’ve reviewed.
Comes with a mixing paddle.
Cooking racks can be ordered seperately.
Cooks a whopping 3.3 pounds of food.
Expensive, but worth if if you use it to it’s full potential
Takes up a lot of space
Gourmia GTA-1500 Air Fryer
The Gourmia GTA-1500 is way more than just an air fryer. Sure, it really does a great job at air frying, but where it really shines is in it’s versatility. Out of all of the air fryers that I review, this one is the most versatile and the price is pretty low as well. If you’re the type of person who cooks a lot of foods and doesn’t want a cluttered countertop space, this may be the air fryer for you. In addition to frying, this air fryer steams, cooks, and functions as a rotisserie!
Comes with a rack and rotisserie.
removable baking pan.
Cooks quicker than most other air fryers.
Huge capacity. You can fit a whole chicken without a problem.
Huge. Takes up a lot of counter space due to it’s large capacity.
The color. Purple and white are kind of an odd choice.
For the price and versatility, this is a great buy that I would recommend to anyone. It’s functionality is nearly perfect and if they would offer it in more than just white and purple this air fryer would be one of my top picks.
The final contender on my air fryer review list for ones that come with accessories is the T-Fal Actifry model FZ7002. This air fryer is nice looking and it does a LOT. Another thing I like about it is that it’s made in France, rather than in China like most of the other air fryer reviews I have on this page. This beast cooks meats, seafood, comes with a recipe book, a mixing paddle, removable baking pan, and yes, it even works as an air fryer.
Well known brand
Does more than a standard air fryer
Meat, seafood, risotto – no problem
Removable baking pan and mixing paddle
Transparent steam-free lid. Watch your food while it cooks.
Small capacity for it’s size. Not large enough for a family of 5.
Missing from this list of air fryers that come with accessories is the Avalon Bay AB-Airfryer100B. It comes with an extra pan and rack and it’s cheap! My review of the Avalon Bay AB-Airfryer100B is here.
Congratulations! You’ve made it through my lengthy Air Fryer buyer’s guide, now you have the knowledge to choose a great air fryer at a price that fits your budget. Remember, that by clicking any of the best price or review buttons will take you to Amazon.com where you’ll find a great discount and hassle-free shopping.
If you’re paying attention you’re going to notice that a LOT of these “off brand” Air fryers all look alike with minor differences. I’ve noticed that also, and I think that they all share the same source manufacturer with a few minor differences. Some manufacturers put their own unique touch on the air fryer but many of the bodies and components are exactly the same.
If I could give you a single tip to sum up all of the Air Fryers I’ve reviewed, I would tell you to buy the Philips HD923026 if you’re looking for a digital air fryer that will last a long time. If you need a great air fryer that fits into your budget, I recommend the Black+Decker HF110SBD. For those who need larger capacities and the ability to do much more than just Air Frying, the Gourmia GTA-1500 is the appliance for you.
All of these are great Air fryers with a high amount of satisfied customers. These brands have a very low complaint or failure rate.
